Walter McNairy Named Head of Dixon Hughes Banking Practice  


Raleigh, NC, December 15, 2009
Dixon Hughes today announces the appointment of Walter McNairy as Member-in-Charge of the Dixon Hughes Financial Institution Services Group (FISG). In addition to his client service responsibilities, Walter was previously Director of SEC Services for Dixon Hughes where he developed and implemented new policies and procedures for the firm’s public company practice. He succeeds Wallace Edge who is Member-in-Charge of Industries for Dixon Hughes. Based in the Raleigh office, Walter will lead an 18-member leadership team and nearly 100 professionals dedicated to serving the banking industry. The FISG has provided audit and advisory services to more than 100 financial institutions across the Southern U.S.

Prior to joining Dixon Hughes in 2002, Walter worked for KPMG LLP for 12 years, including a two-year assignment in the firm’s national office in New York. He served four years on KPMG’s National Professional Practice Review Team and also served as Assistant to the Chairman of the American Institute of Certified Accountants (AICPA) Auditing Standards Board. His client experience throughout his career includes serving banks ranging in size from community to Top 10 U.S. banks.

Walter earned both a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree and a Master of Accounting degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and he is a graduate of the North Carolina School of Banking Advanced Management Program. He is a member of the AICPA and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
